Skineffect

The steady direct current while flowing through a conductor distributes itself over the whole                       X-section  of the conductor but ac tends to consentrate near the surface . in ac systems no current flows  through the core and  the entire current is concentrate at  the surface. This phenomenon is called  skin effect.
